ANDERSON Co., SC (WSPA) – It’s been a busy year for Lake Hartwell and now officials are kicking off their fall season of fishing tournaments.
Statistics show that over 10.5 million people will visit Lake Hartwell this year. When comparing that number to national parks, Lake Hartwell would be the second most visited park only to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Anderson County officials credit the growth to great facilities and a great community.
“Then I think in 10 years, we won’t just be a landmark regionally but a landmark nationally,” said Neil Paul who is the Executive Director at Visit Anderson.
Officials also credit more visitors to the lake because the water levels are at full pool for the first time in years. Local business owners tell 7News they conduct more business when the lake levels are highter.
