Lane reopened after tractor trailer wrecks, spills fuel on I-26 in Polk Co.


COLUMBUS, NC (WSPA) – Columbus Fire Department officials said the right lane of Interstate 26 eastbound was shutdown briefly after a tractor trailer jackknifed near mile marker 62 on Thursday.

According to Columbus Fire Department’s Facebook post, firefighters, as well as Saluda Fire Department and the Polk County Fire Marshal responded to the scene due to a fuel spill.

According to fire officials approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the road.

The road has since reopened to traffic.
