LAURENS CO., S.C. (WSPA) – Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain has announced who he’s supporting to replace him in office.
Two months after his defeat in the primary, Chastain said in a video posted to Facebook that Capt. Stephane Williams would “make a difference” for residents.
“Stephane is very dedicated to the people of Laurens County,” Chastain said. “Not only is he dedicated, he is the most educated, the most experienced and the most knowledgeable to continue leading this great agency.”
Williams is running as an Independent candidate for sheriff.
Williams has 27 years of law enforcement experience and currently commands the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, according to his website.
In June, Sheriff Chastain was defeated by Don Reynolds in the primary.
Reynolds has said that he would represent himself in a “professional, honorable manner,” while bringing a “professional image” to the agency and making citizens proud.
Williams states on his website that he would work to prevent crime through community interaction in high-risk neighborhoods while solving crimes.
