LAURENS Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A Fountain Inn woman accused of driving drunk when she hit and killed a man on a tractor was denied bond in a court hearing Wednesday morning.
Tara Mahan, 34, of has been in jail since the crash in June.
The judge said she can apply for another hearing after 120 days or whenever the results of toxicology reports come back from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division – whichever comes first.
The prosecution said she admitted to having meth and marijuana in her system.
Troopers say Wesley Robinson was driving his tractor on Fleming Mill Road when Mahan hit him from behind.
Robinson died at the scene.
His family said he was cutting hay before he was killed.
They say he loved farming, working with dairy cattle and “wanted to feed the world.”
Robinson was a Clemson University graduate who went on to Texas Tech.
At the time of the deadly crash, Mahan was out on bond for DUI.
She’s charged with felony DUI resulting in death, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana in the crash that claimed Robinson’s life.
