Laurens man killed, 2 women hurt in head-on crash

LAURENS Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A Laurens man died in a head-on crash that sent another driver and her passenger to the hospital.

The crash happened Thursday night on Indian Mound Road near Mt. Pleasant Estates Road in Waterloo.

The driver of a van was traveling west on Indian Mound Road when he crossed the center line and crashed into an SUV headed in the opposite direction, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Authorities say the driver of the van died at the scene of the crash from his injuries.

He was identified as Carl Edward Hurley, 38, of Deer Valley Road in Laurens. 

Troopers say two women were in the SUV that was hit in the crash. Both were taken to Self Regional Hospital for treatment.

Their conditions were not immediately known.
