Laurens police officer arrested, on leave without pay

LAURENS, SC (WSPA) – Laurens Police Department says an officer is on administrative leave without pay after he was arrested.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division arrested Andrew Ashley, 27, on Monday. He’s charged with malicious injury to tree, house; trespass upon real property, SLED said in a statement.

An arrest warrant states Ashley “mutilated the yard” of an Abbeville County home with his personal vehicle on Jan. 1, 2017.

If convicted of the misdemeanor, Ashley could get up to 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

A SLED background check shows he was charged with Traffic / No Tag Light in June 2010.
