SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, along with several local police departments are coming together to help protect your personal property.

The sheriff’s office — along with the Greer, Lyman, Duncan and Wellford police departments — will be hosting a trailer registration event from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the old Lyman Mills on Community Street in Lyman.

The agencies will be on-hand to help stamp unique identifying numbers on trailers free of charge for Spartanburg County residents.

“This is the third time we have provided this service, and to date, we have stamped 230 trailers for the community,” Lt. Kevin Bobo said. “We have also seen a 24 percent reduction in trailer thefts and also have two success stories, where we were able to recover an owner’s trailer because he had gotten it stamped in the past. We also assisted the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office on getting their project started, and both Anderson and Aiken County Sheriff’s Office have expressed an interest as well.”
