A new competitive show “Million Dollar Mile“ premieres tonight on CBS with Tim Tebow as the host and Lebron James as the Executive Producer.
The show challenges competitors to run one mile throughout downtown Los Angeles, which is interspersed with obstacles, for the chance to win a one million dollar prize. The prize is defended by 10 elite athletes called “defenders“ who chase each competitor and attempt to finish first.
Even though each competitor gets a 2-minute head start, if the defender finishes an obstacle first, the race is over.
“Defenders“ have been recruited from all over the globe and include a Guinness World Record holder and a Green Beret.
Maria Taylor, an Atlanta native, is one of the show’s commentators and says it brings something new to TV.
“It’s a sport that no one’s ever seen,“ she says. “There are these incredible athletes that you’re going to meet for the first time, and there’s a whole other world of obstacle course racing that I hope everyone gets to meet by watching the Million Dollar Mile.“
Million Dollar Mile premieres Wednesday, March 27th at 9pm EST on CBS.
