OCONEE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A home on Lake Keowee was destroyed in an early-morning fire on Thursday.

Keowee Ebenezer firefighters say a lightning strike caused the fire.

Oconee County Emergency Services Deputy Chief Ryan Eubanks said the fire was reported around 1:05 a.m. Thursday. The call initially came in as a brush fire. A second caller confirmed it was a house fire.

Chief McMurry said no one was at the summer home when it caught fire.

The house on Westwood Bay Drive was in flames when firefighters arrived on scene.

Authorities say it’s a “total loss.”

Chief McCurry said no one was hurt.

Keowee Ebenezer, Keowee, Walhalla, West Union, Pickett Post, and Seneca fire crews battled the blaze.
