Lightning strike caused house fire in Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Firefighters say lightning is to blame for a fire that damaged a home in Greenville.

Wade Hampton Fire Department responded to the house fire on North Gaywood Drive around 8:20 p.m. Thursday.

Wade Hampton Fire Chief Randy Edwards said lightning struck a patio, causing the fire.

No one was hurt.

The fire caused an estimated $85,000 worth of the damage to the home.
