Local church celebrates Easter with packed house

“The end goal is just to get people closer to Christ and if people are going to church then you’re exposing them to Jesus,” Daniil Starovoytov said.

Easter Sunday is a day when worshippers rejoice in song and prayer to proclaim their Lord and savior Jesus Christ has risen.

Members of Emmanuel Church in Spartanburg County say Easter is one Sunday when they have a packed house.

“We have more people than usual coming in on Easter Sunday as you can see this parking lot is packed tight and we got the back of the parking lot packed tight,” Daniil Starovoytov said.

Emmanuel is a non denominational church whose main members are from Russia and the Ukraine.

A tight knit group of parishioners have welcomed anyone and everyone into the church.

“I got involved instantly and started playing the guitar with them and since that day I’ve just felt a sense of community like they’ve brought me in as one of their own,” Dave Connell said.
