Local man writes song to spread positivity during violence in Anderson

News

ANDERSON, SC (WSPA) – After a streak of violence in the Upstate, a local man hopes to bring something positive to the community throughout ough music.

Christian Johnson wrote a song stating the gun violence needs to stop after his cousin Jerzie Smith was shot and killed at the Stop-A-Minit off East River Street in Anderson.

He posted the video to social media and immediately it spread. He tells 7News the traction the video is receiving shows he’s not alone in wanting the children of the community to put the guns down.

“I love my city, but I don’t love what I’m seeing in my city, so personally for me to want to stay here and raise a family here I want them to be proud of where they come from. I want my kids to be proud of where they go to school and right now is it that type of community? If we are being honest with ourselves the answer is no,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the way to start being better is to be kind to others and educate the children about gun violence.
