ANDERSON CO., SC (WSPA) – A motorcyclist died in a crash Wednesday night in Pendleton.

The crash happened on Highway 88 (Old Greenville Highway) near Three and Twenty Road around 10:15 p.m., according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the driver was traveling west when he drove off of a paved section of the road to another lane that was not paved which caused him to lose control of his motorcycle.

While attempting to regain control of the motorcycle, the driver crashed into a utility pole and ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.

According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the driver was not wearing a helmet.

A passenger suffered minor injuries and did not go to the hospital, troopers said.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The coroner’s office has identified the victim as 25-year-old Christian Brewer, of Liberty.

The SCHP and coroner’s office is investigating the crash at this time.
