ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Two people were charged after a shooting left a woman dead Tuesday night at an Anderson County apartment complex.

The shooting happened at the Meadow Run Apartments on Abbeville Highway around 8:20 p.m., according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

“We had more than 25 units along Abbeville Highway, I believe it was 28,” Anderson County Public Information Officer, Shale Remien said.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ashley Nicole Chambers, 29, of Anderson.

Following an investigation, officials believe Chambers was shot after a fight with several people in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Chambers death has been ruled a homicide.

The sheriff’s office said they have arrested a 17-year-old and charged her with murder.

A second person, 35-year-old Marshanda Paschal, was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

The sheriff’s office says fatal gun violence in Anderson has decreased this year compared to last, but says death is something they never want to see.

“What people also need to understand regardless of age is once you pick up a gun and you shoot, you cannot undo that. This 29-year-old was here one minute on Tuesday and now it’s Wednesday and she’s gone. Once that gun picked up you cannot undo that,” Remien said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
