SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Three people were taken to the hospital after an ambulance crashed into an SUV Tuesday evening in Spartanburg.

According to the Spartanburg Police Department, the crash happened at the corner of West Saint John Street and North Forest Street around 9 p.m.

Police said an ambulance ran a red light and crashed into an SUV turning left from W. Saint John Street on to North Forest Street.

The ambulance was not running an emergency call and was not carrying a patient, police said.

Two people in the ambulance and one in the SUV were taken to the hospital for injuries which were not life-threatening.
