Local News

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – The Clemson Extension office in Spartanburg has started offering a class to help teach how to grow vegetables in any location.

Instructor Andrew Jeffers said the class will help gardeners of any skill or knowledge level to help grow vegetables.

His demonstration on Monday morning included a simple heat lamp and a warming pad. Jeffers said these tools can speed up the growing process but aren’t necessary for all vegetables.

Jeffers said the class will also touch on soil composition and what plants to grow when and where. The class will also teach about pest control and using sunlight to grow plants in the best way.

The class will be held at Spartanburg Community College on Jan. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Call (864) 596-2993 by Jan. 6 to register at a $35 rate. After that date, the registration price will rise to $50.
