SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man’s body was recovered from an Upstate lake Tuesday morning.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said a boating incident happened on Lyman Lake sometime between Monday and Tuesday.
Officials said that the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing person.
DNR said the boat was located adrift in the lake by a resident around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday and the victim’s body was recovered by lake wardens.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office responded to the boat landing at 200 Lyman Lodge Road.
The coroner identified the man as 73-year-old William Hindman, of Lyman.
The coroner’s office is unsure at this time if this was a medical event, drowning, or if any other contributing factors caused Hindman’s death.
DNR is investigating the death.
