LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person is dead following a crash Wednesday morning in Laurens County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 6:29 a.m. on Highway 14 at Old Laurens County.

Troopers said a 1995 Dodge Ram was traveling west on Highway 14 while a 2012 Hyundai Elantra was traveling east.

The driver of the Dodge Ram passed an unknown vehicle in a lawful passing zone going in the same direction when it struck the Hyundai Elantra head-on, according to the highway patrol.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra died at the scene.

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 32-year-old Dantavis Williams, of Laurens.
