Man drowns in French Broad River in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, NC (WSPA) – Firefighters say a man drowned Monday afternoon in the French Broad River in Asheville.

The Asheville Fire Department responded for a water rescue around 4:00pm in the area of Craven Street near Haywood Road where they said the person was last seen.

The fire department said rescue boats were deployed in that area.

Asheville Fire Department reported that the drowning victim was found around 6:00pm.
