1 man killed, another facing murder charges following shooting near Ware Place

GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – One man is dead and another is facing murder charges after a shooting Tuesday evening in a Dollar General parking lot near Ware Place, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the shooting happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Augusta Road.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found Dallas K. Rosemond, 32, of Pelzer, had been shot at least once.

After further investigation, deputies learned Corey Jerome Daniel, 43, turned himself into the Williamston Police Department, according to the sheriff’s office. He is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Deputies said the shooting stemmed from an “ongoing issue with one another.” Investigators learned Daniel was sitting in a vehicle in the Dollar General’s parking lot when Rosemond pulled up and got out of his car, deputies said. The two noticed each other and got into an argument. As Rosemond started to walk toward Daniel’s vehicle, Daniel pulled out a gun and started shooting.

Rosemond was taken to taken to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital where he died just before 9:30 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.

Daniel has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center.

The coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office will continue to investigate.
