SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man died Wednesday at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said Jimmy Lee Hill, 41, of Spartanburg, was pronounced dead at the facility upon arrival.

The coroner’s office is working with South Carolina Law Enforcement agents to investigate the death.

A forensic autopsy determined Thursday morning that there were no signs of external force or injury attributed to Hill’s demise.

A toxicology analysis has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death according to the coroner’s office.

Hill’s death is the third reported death in 2023 at the detention center.

The previous inmate’s death was reported in early March.
