1 dead after crash involving garbage truck on Mauldin Rd. in Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – One person has died after a crash involving a garbage truck on Mauldin Road in Greenville Friday afternoon.

The crash happened at Mauldin Road and Fairforest Way around 4:50pm.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a garbage truck was making a left turn on to Fairforest Way when it hit a car traveling the opposite direction.

The driver of the car was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, Highway Patrol said.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Troopers said the driver of the garbage truck was not hurt.
