3 dead, 1 hurt in Greenwood Co. shooting, suspect arrested

UPDATE: On Wednesday, Jeffery Powell was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center in connection to the shooting.

Powell was charged with three counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and possession of weapon during a violent crime.

GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Suspect Jeffery David Powell has been located and arrested in connection to a Greenwood Co. shooting that killed three and injured one Monday.

The shooting happened on Heddy Road at 3 p.m. Greenwood Co. Sheriff’s Office deputies confirmed Powell got on commercial flight and was arrested at a Red Roof Inn in Jacksonville, FL.

The United States Marshall Service and SLED assisted Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office. They are working to get investigators to Florida to interview him.

The Greenwood County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 56-year-old Randy Perkins, 30-year-old Megan Dinkins, and 11-year-old Shey Dinkins, all of Greenwood.

The 4th shooting victim had non life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Right now, investigators said they do not know a motive for the shooting but they believe the person of interest has a relationship with the victims.
