MCDOWELL, N.C. (WSPA) – A deadly shooting is under investigation Thursday in McDowell County.
According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, a man was shot on Fairview Road in the Marion area around noon.
Deputies said the victim died from his injuries at the hospital.
Investigators arrested and charged 38-year-old Jeffery Allen Higgins with murder.
Higgins is being held in the McDowell County jail without bond.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 47-year-old Jimmy Lee Cool.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the shooting investigation.
