GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – Deputies are investigating a shooting Wednesday afternoon on Dalton Road in Greenville County.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene around 1:40 p.m. for a report that someone had been shot.
The sheriff’s office said they have interviewed all parties involved, but no charges have been made at this time.
Jack Roberts lives just feet away from where it happened, and said he was shocked to see the commotion.
“Well when I started out to go do my business, the ambulance, the fire truck, probably 15 deputy sheriff cars were here,” Roberts said. “I figured something had happened pretty bad you, especially with the ambulance leaving out,” Roberts said. “It’s horrifying. It’s close to home. I just live 300 yards right down the road there. You know, nothing like that has happened here in 50 years, that I know of,” he said.
Paul Smith said he has been concerned about this neighborhood for awhile now. He said he has seen law enforcement more in the last six months than he has in his decades of living there.
“Cause I mean all they do is steal,” Smith said.”
“They done robbed me a bunch of times, and they steal like the parts off the cars that I got down there,” Smith said. “And they come through the trailer park through the woods and steal stuff from my shop, and I mean it’s been going on way too long really,” he said.
No information has been released about what led up to this shooting or who was involved. However, some in the area said, they are hoping for answers.
“I just hope that they get to the bottom of whatever it is. You know, there’s so much meanness going on now you just can’t never tell anymore. It’s dangerous to get out on the streets anymore,” Roberts said.
The victim was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition, deputies said. This is an ongoing investigation.
