SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Four people died in a crash Friday evening in Spartanburg County.

The crash happened on Fairforest Road near Old Greenville Road around 7:45 p.m.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said a pickup truck was headed northbound on Fairforest Road when it went off the left side of the road, struck a utility pole, a brick column, then overturned and hit another utility pole.

Three people in the truck died at the scene of the crash while the driver of the truck was taken by ambulance to Spartanburg Medical Center.

The driver later died at the hospital.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said determining the identities of the victims was difficult because none of the them were U.S. citizens.

The coroner was able to identify the victims through fingerprints with the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security.

The victims were identified as 23-year-old Dixon Santiago Hernandez-Mendez, 19-year-old Joel Armando Ramirez-Quiroz, 31-year-old Jhoel Antonio Sanchez-Maradiaga, and 25-year-old Jorge Luis Robleda-Uresti.

Highway Patrol and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office were investigating the wreck.
