Magnitude 4.4 earthquake jolts Tennessee; felt in Upstate

DECATUR, Tenn. (WSPA) – An earthquake that rattled eastern Tennessee early was felt as far away as the Upstate. 

The U.S. Geological Survey says the 4.4-magnitude earthquake happened around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday about 7 miles from Decatur, Tenn. A 3.3 magnitude aftershock followed 13 minutes later. 

7News has had some reports the earthquake was felt in the Upstate. 

Our sister station WATE in Knoxville, Tenn. reports there were no immediate reports of damage.

The news station received dozens of calls from people across eastern Tennessee, including Gatlinburg.
