SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Construction is underway in the city of Spartanburg and it’s expected to impact traffic.
The lanes of the intersection at St. John and Church Streets is expected to be closed for construction for about 14 months.
The intersection of Daniel Morgan Avenue and Main Street (this is at the intersection with the Herald-Journal newspaper, Cribb’s Kitchen, and AC Hotel under construction) also temporarily closed Sunday for a streetscape project and replace water lines.
Work starts Monday and may last up to four weeks at the Main Street intersection. City officials say the goal is to reopen by April 28th in time for Spring Fling.
Local traffic to parking lots/deliveries will be allowed at the Main Street intersection, but through traffic will need to go around the area.
The city of Spartanburg suggests drivers use the Magnolia Street and Broad Street parking garages while the construction is ongoing.
A portion of Liberty Street between East Main Street and Dunbar Street will also close for Aug W. Smith building renovations through late 2017.
