FRANKLIN COUNTY, GA (WSPA) – A man accused in the shooting of two Lavonia police officers in 2016 pleaded guilty to several charges in Franklin County court on Thursday.
According to the Franklin County Clerk of Court’s Office confirmed that Khari Gordon pleaded guilty in court to two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer with intent to murder, two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, bringing stolen property into the state of Georgia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
We reported earlier that Lavonia Police Capt. Michael Schulman and Officer Jeffery Martin were shot during a traffic stop on Dec. 12, 2016.
Gordon was facing multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder.
He was sentenced to 100 years following his guilty plea and will serve 50 years before he is eligible for parole.
The DA’s office said Gordon was also banned from the state of Georgia, except for Clayton County.
He reportedly still had the firearm he shot the officers with on his person when he was arrested, and he was out on bond for a charge in South Carolina when the incident happened.
Gordon also had four previous felony convictions in South Carolina.
