OCONEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a man was charged with attempted murder Friday morning.
According to a sheriff’s office news release, a deputy responded to a home on Ramsey Creek Road near Westminster in reference to a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, the deputy was told the victim and suspect were near Rich Mountain Road and Misty Hollow Lane.
According to the release, the deputy spoke to the victim, who said that Rance Mickey Phillips, 31, went to the victim’s home once, was upset and then left.
The victim said later on they heard glass breaking and went outside, where he said glass was broken on his vehicle and a bullet hole was in the windshield of his vehicle.
According to the release, the victim saw someone of the property and heard gunshots.
The victim said he then pursued Phillips to get a tag number of his vehicle.
According to the victim, Phillips then pulled out a long gun from his vehicle, and then the vehicle wrecked around Rich Mountain Road and Misty Hollow Lane.
In the arrest warrant, Phillips fired the shotgun multiple times while aiming at the victim.
Phillips was taken to a nearby hospital and was later taken to the Oconee County Detention Center.
He was charged with attempted murder and malicious injury to personal property.
Phillips was also charged with driving under the influence by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
According to the release, Phillips’ vehicle was impounded and he remains in custody pending a bond hearing.
