Man accused of kidnapping, punching, choking woman in Oconee Co.

WALHALLA, SC (WSPA) – A man is under arrest after he was accused of kidnapping, according to the Oconee Co. Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Ed Blandon Childs, 39, is charged with Kidnapping and Domestic Violence 2nd Degree.

He turned himself in Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.

A deputy says they were called to an address on Gillespie Drive near Seneca on April 26.

A woman there said Childs had assaulted her. The report says the deputy could see injuries on the woman.

The woman said she was in a vehicle driven by Childs when the assault happen.

The warrant says Childs is accused of punching the victim 3 – 4 times in the face, sticking his fingers down her throat to try to quiet her screams and choking her until she lost consciousness.

It happened on Radio Station Rd., according to the warrant.

She told the deputy that she asked Childs to let her out and he refused.

Child drove them back to the residence and the woman was able to get away.

She said she said she was able to get a ride back to the address on Gillespie Dr. where she met the deputy.

Childs is still in custody at the Detention Center waiting on a bond hearing.
