Man accused of stealing peaches from orchard in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG Co., SC (WSPA) – A man is accused of stealing peaches from and orchard, according to Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to Wall Circle and Buckner Dr. for a report that people were stealing peaches from a peach orchard.

On their way there, they were told that the suspect vehicle was in a crash and the people had ran.

Neighborhood Watch called and said a man was going into a opened outbuilding in the 500 block of Martin Camp Rd.

Deputies found a man hiding under a blue tarp in the building.

They handcuffed the man and read him his rights, according to the report.

Deputies say Tyler Twitty-Hill told them he and his father, Richard Hill, were gathered 20 baskets of peaches in the orchard to make money from them.

He said they saw a truck on Wall Circle and they collided with it.

They got out of their vehicle and ran, according to the report.

The driver of the truck told deputies she had recently hired a private investigator because of all the thefts from farmers in the area.

She said the investigator called her and said two people were in one of the peach orchards.

The suspects’ vehicle came out of the orchard belonging to Strawberry Hill recklessly toward her and crashed into her truck, according to the woman.

Tyler Twitty-Hill is charged with Trespassing and Petit Larceny, according to the report.

Warrants have also been signed on Richard Hill for the same charges.
