Man accused of taking ‘creepy’ upskirt pic at Haywood Mall

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – A man has been arrested after he was accused of taking a picture of a woman up her skirt at the Haywood Mall, according to Greenville Police.

Suavelle Austin is charged with voyeurism, according to the warrant.

Greenville Police say they want to give a shout out to several witnesses who say they saw something fishy on Tuesday evening.

“We are always very appreciative when individuals who witness an unlawful act come forward and share that information with police,” Donald Porter with Greenville Police Department, said. “Honestly it makes our job easier.”

The man used a cell phone to take a picture up the woman’s skirt on the escalator, according to witnesses.

Witnesses contacted mall security who confronted Austin and stayed with him until police arrived.

Austin admitted to police he took a “creepy” and “wrong” picture of the girl and deleted it, according to the report.

The victim said she felt someone brush up against her on the escalator before moving a few steps away.

Austin is now facing a charge of voyeurism. the first offense is a misdemeanor and it carries a sentence of up to 3 years in jail.

As of early Wednesday afternoon, Austin was still in the detention center. He’s facing a $2500 dollar bond.
