Man arrested after attempted robbery at 5th/3rd Bank in Forest City

FOREST CITY, NC (WSPA) – Police have arrested a man they say tried to rob the Fifth Third Bank on West Main Street in Forest City.

Police Chief Jay Jackson says they think the man tried to rob the bank with a weapon, but he didn’t get any cash before leaving.

Police say they identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jerry Hover Tinsley of Rutherfordton.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office found Tinsley hiding in the wood line near his home on Baber Road shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday. 

Tinsley is currently on federal probation for several bank robberies in Alabama.
