GREENWOOD, SC (WSPA) – Police say a man has been arrested for a sexual assault that happened more than two years ago in Greenwood.
The incident happened on June 7, 2016 at an apartment about two miles from downtown Greenwood, according to the report.
The woman said she was sexually assaulted by a man she didn’t know.
She said she was sleeping on the couch in her living room and she woke up because she was cold.
She got up to turn on the heat and saw a man crouched down between a table and her front door.
The man had a can of mace and made her go in to the bedroom and lie on the bed.
She said he sexually assaulted her and made her give him a shirt.
The man told her, “If I get caught I’ll know you called the police and gave them my description and I’ll come back and kill you,” according to records.
After the assault, the suspect gathered all of her pocketbooks, dumped the contents on the ground and went through them.
She said he only took $7.
The victim said the man left the apartment through the back door, jumped over the porch railing and ran towards the woods.
She said the incident lasted about an hour and she did not call police because she was afraid.
The woman said she fell asleep without locking her doors so the suspect must have gotten in that way.
