Man charged with DUI, hit-and-run after head-on crash in Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Police have charged a man with DUI after they say he ran from the scene of a head-on crash in Greenville, Saturday night.

According to Greenville Police, officers were called to the crash at Lowndes Hill Road near Keith Drive for a crash around 7:45pm.

Officers say 27-year-old Miguel Angel Ramirez Bautista was driving his Toyota Camry on the wrong side of the road when he crashed into a Ford Edge head-on.

When the people in the Ford tried to get out of their vehicle, the Toyota backed up then crashed into the Ford a second time causing one of the people in the Ford to be hit by the passenger side door resulting in a severe head injury, according to Greenville Police.

That passenger, along with another passenger in the Ford were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

Officers say that Bautista got out of his vehicle and ran towards Keith Drive. He was quickly taken into custody by responding officers.

Bautista is charged with Hit and Run to an Attended Vehicle and DUI .16 or higher, according to Greenville Police.
