Man charged with murder after dead man found in ditch, deputies say

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (WSPA) – A man is dead and another man has been arrested after a shooting in Greenville County early Saturday.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim at the 200 block of Fountain Inn Drive in Fountain Inn just before 3 a.m. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a shooting but no victim.

Later that morning, deputies were able to contact the suspect and questioned him about the shooting.

That suspect has been identified as 36-year-old Diderikcous Jacobi Hill.

Around 7:15 a.m., a caller told Greenville County dispatch that a body was in a ditch off Burdette Road near Howard Drive in Simpsonville. Investigators determined the body was connected to the reported shooting earlier in the morning.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as James Calvin Hill, 48, of Simpsonville.

Hill died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head, the coroner’s report says.

Hill has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center under no bond.
