SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) – Troopers are investigating a deadly wreck and chase involving a police officer.
Troopers say the crash happened around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday on Beaverdam Church Road in Enoree.
Interim police Chief Todd Hendrix said an officer attempted to stop a driver shortly before midnight on McEdco Road in the city of Woodruff.

The coroner identified the driver as 54-year-old Arthur Allen King of Woodruff.
Authorities say King died at the scene of the crash when the pickup truck he was driving flipped and he was thrown from the truck.
Hendrix said King refused to stop and the officer chased the truck for about 25 minutes before the pursuit ended in the crash.
Highway Patrol says both vehicles were traveling north on Beaverdam Church Road and entered a left hand curve. Both went off the right side of the road and overturned.
King wasn’t wearing a seat belt, according to SC Highway Patrol.
The Woodruff police officer was treated for minor injuries at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and has been released, according to Hendrix.
Highway Patrol says the vehicles didn’t make contact.
