SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A Taylors man has been charged after leading officers on a pursuit Thursday morning.
According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assisted Lyman police at about 11:30 a.m. with a vehicle pursuit of a suspected drunk driver on New Cut Road.
Officers attempted to forcibly stop the suspect a couple times before they were able to successfully stop the car on Cedar Springs Road between Johnson Drive and Serenity Springs Lane.
Deputies said Aric Richard Vendetti, 42, got out of the car with something black in his hand and began to run away.
Officers were able to get Vendetti into custody and transported him to the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
Officers said that DMV files showed that his drivers license had been suspended for DUI and that he had a prior driving under suspension in the last five years. The files also showed that Vendetti was a habitual traffic offender since 2016.
Vendetti has been charged with two counts of first offense blue light violation no injury, two counts of habitual traffic offender, two counts of second offense DUS for DUI, resisting arrest no assault, attempted murder, hit and run property damage to a vehicle, fourth DUI less than 0.10, open container in vehicle and reckless driving.
Deputies said he was also wanted for a probation violation in Greenville.
