LAURENS COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on several drug charges following a traffic stop on Highway 56 North in Clinton Thursday.
According to a sheriff’s office news release, deputies stopped Shannon Leon Williams’ vehicle and found him in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine and other illegal drugs.
Deputies found around 242 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy, suboxone pills and fentanyl powder. Williams also reportedly had a child in the vehicle with him at the time of his arrest.
Williams was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine in excess of 200 grams, possession of fentanyl, possession o ecstasy, possession of schedule III narcotics, possession of marijuana and unlawful conduct toward a child.
“This repeat offender has a long criminal history dating back to the late 90’s and was currently out on bond for trafficking meth and numerous other charges when he was arrested today,” Sheriff Don Reynolds said. “We put him in jail in November of 2017 for Trafficking Meth and 2nd offense possession of marijuana, yet here we are doing it again. According to the public index, he had 9 different criminal charges pending at the time of his arrest today (Dating back to 2016). It’s frustrating dealing with repeat offenders who should be in prison, but we will not allow these drug dealers to damage our communities with this poison.”
Williams was taken to the Johnson Detention Center.
