SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Spartanburg Police Department officials said a man who was initially named a person of interest in a homicide investigation, has now been charged with murder.
On New Year’s Day, police were called to the 100 block of Hanover Place in reference to a shooting, and found Belton Vinder Dandy, 39, dead inside an apartment.
On Thursday, investigators were wanting to speak with Brandon Antawan Arledge, who was initially named a person of interest in the case.
Later on Thursday, police issued a second news release saying investigators had determined that Arledge was responsible for Dandy’s death.
Arledge reportedly met with law enforcement on Thursday and after consulting with the 7th Circuit Solicitors Office, he was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
He was taken to the Spartanburg County Detention, where he is awaiting a bond hearing set for 2 p.m. Friday.
