Man found dead in Ingles parking lot in Woodfin ID’d

WOODFIN, NC (WSPA) – Woodfin Police Department officials said a man who was found unresponsive inside of a vehicle at grocery story parking lot, has been identified.

According to Woodfin Police Chief Michael Dykes, officers responded to Ingles, located at 499 Weaverville Road in Woodfin, just before 12:10 p.m.

Dykes said a Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office deputy found Adam Bennett Stockley, 54, of Marshall, NC, unresponsive and called for medical help.

Bennett was pronounced dead a short time after officers arrived on-scene.

His body was later sent to Wake Forest Baptist Health Medical Center for an autopsy.

Dykes said foul play is not suspected at this time.
