Man killed in deputy-involved shooting in Greenville Co.

GREENVILLE CO., S.C. (WSPA) – A man died early Sunday morning after shooting a woman and pointing a gun at deputies in Greenville County.

Greenville County deputies responded at about 1:30 a.m. to the Pleasant Grove mobile home park on Murrell Road after a man told 911 officials he had been poisoned, according to the sheriff’s office.

While trying to establish communication, deputies said a man inside of the home told them he had a gun and then started yelling.

Deputies took cover then heard a gunshot inside of the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man came outside and continued to fire the gun several times before pointing it at the deputies. At least one deputy returned fire at that time, fatally wounding the man, according to the sheriff’s office.

34-year-old Willie Jermaine Robinson of Greenville was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2:00a.m., according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

Deputies said they discovered that Robinson had shot a woman inside of the home. She was transported to an area hospital for her non-life threatening injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.

No deputies were hurt in the shooting.

SLED was called to investigate the shooting.

SLED says this is the second officer-involved shooting in Greenville County and seventh in the state in 2019.
