Man shoots self after officers called for disturbance in Spartanburg, police say


SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Police say a man appears to have shot and killed himself after police were called to a disturbance at a home in Spartanburg, Sunday evening.

According to Spartanburg Police, officers were called to a home on Alma Byrd Lane for a disturbance between a man and a woman.

Officers say they were able to rescue the woman from the residence but while officers were outside, they heard gunshots inside the home.

Officers formed a perimeter around the home before SWAT responded and cleared the home.

Once inside, officers found the man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Spartanburg Police.

No shots were fired by officers at the scene, police say.

Police say the woman did not suffer any serious injuries.
