Man shot by roommate after fight in Greenville Co. charged with assault

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Greenville County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged a man after a fight with his roommate resulted in a shooting Saturday afternoon.

We reported earlier that deputies were called to the 1000 block of Anderson Road shortly before 1 p.m. in regards to a shooting.

On Monday, sheriff’s office officials said the Daniel Sanchez-Altamirano, 43, was charged with first-degree assault and battery, after investigators learned he initiated the fight by throwing several large kitchen knives at the victim.

The victim then acted in self-defense and fired his gun at Sanchez-Altamirano. He was not injured during the incident.

Sanchez-Altamirano was taken to the hospital for treatment of a non life-threatening leg injury, and has since been released.

According to the release, Sanchez-Altamirano was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center, where he was being held on $15,000 bond.
