BLACKSBURG, SC (WSPA) – A man was shot on Wilderness Trail in Blacksburg, according to Cherokee Co. Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said it happened in the 200 block of that street at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

According to deputies, the shooter walked up to a silver and black 1993 Dodge Ram extended cab pickup truck and shot the victim several times. 

The shooter fled the scene and remains unknown, deputies said. 

Deputies are looking for a person of interest that they described as a white male that is approximately 30-45 years of age, according to deputies. The male is about six-foot-tall and weighs about 250 pounds. 

Deputies said they are also searching for white vehicle that is possibly a Chevrolet Impala with a North Carolina license plate.

A neighbor described what they heard during the time of the accident.  

“I think about six shots… I was laying down,” said neighbor Frank Pruett.

The victim was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital, according to deputies.
