Man shot trying to force way into home charged with stalking in Anderson Co.

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man, who was shot in the neck and hand while trying to force his way into a home in the county early Wednesday morning, has been charged with stalking.

The shooting happened on Capitol Way around 3:20 a.m.

Sgt. J.T. Foster, with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, said the person who was shot tried to force open the door to a home. A resident inside the home fired one or two shots, hitting him in the neck and hand.

Foster said Wednesday that he believed the person shot had been trespassed from the location.

After the shooting, the man ran from the scene and was taken to the hospital.

Deputies said his injuries were not life threatening.

A sheriff’s office report identified the man as Andrew Cecil Creech, 24, of Barnwell, SC.

Creech was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center on a stalking charge, according to jail records.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
