Man wanted for questioning in double killing in Macon Co.

MACON Co., N.C. (WSPA)–Deputies are looking for a man who may have answers about a double murder.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office says Maximino Rios-Diaz is wanted for questioning in connection to the slaying of two brothers whose bodies were found in the back of an abandoned truck.

Deputies believe Rios may be traveling to Mexico. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Family members last saw the Franklin man on March 24 — just days before Francisco Altamirano, 34, and Diego Altamirano, 39, were found dead on Jack Cabe Road.

Deputies say the brothers had gunshot wounds. They were also living in Franklin and were expected to go to a party in Westminster, S.C., but never showed up.

Anyone with information of Rios’ whereabouts is asked to call the Macon County Sheriff’s Office at 828-371-2107 or CrimeStoppers at 828-349-2600.
