Anderson Police Department is searching for a man following a double shooting in Anderson.
Police said Clayton Lydel Hawkins, 28, of Williamston, shot two people when he fired into a vehicle with two adults and four children inside.
Chief Jim Stewart of the Anderson Police Department says, “we believe it was domestic related, it could have resulted in several deaths, luckily it didn’t”
The double shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Brookmeade Drive..
According to warrants, the children are 2 months old to 4 years old.
A man and a woman were injured during the shooting, but the children were not hurt, police say.
Warrants say the woman was shot in the back of the head while she was driving the 2003 Nissan Altima. The man was shot in the left wrist and the right thigh.
Police said one victim is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.
Chief Stewart said, “he shot at the car, both adults were hit luckly none of the children were hit in the car, but they were the target, I believe and we were just very fortunate that those were the only people who got hit.”
Hawkins is wanted on six counts of attempted murder as well as possession of a firearm during a violent crime charge.
Anyone with information on Hawkins’ whereabouts is asked to contact Lt. Carla Roberson at 864-221-8980 or CrimeStoppers (888) 274-6372.
