Man wanted in shooting of Greenville woman found dead at crash turns self in

GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – Greenville County deputies say the man accused of killing Jayla Thomas-Smith turned himself in, Tuesday.

20-year-old Deltravious Daquandra Howard is charged with Murder, Petit Larceny, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

Thomas-Smith’s body was found near the intersection of Old Pelzer Road and Piedmont Highway on February 24.

Highway Patrol had originally responded to the scene for a crash, but the coroner later determined that the 21-year-old Greenville woman had died from a gunshot wound.

Investigators say Thomas-Smith was shot to death by Howard during a domestic incident.

Howard had been on the run for almost two months.

He is being held in the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
